A funny thing is happening at 2nd Story this month.
Two plays are opening that were written 100 years apart, both capturing the zeitgeist of their eras.
And here’s the thing: Each premiered the same year their respective venues were conceived.
Confused? Let me explain.
In 1914, the very year our dear old union hall was constructed, George M. Cohan premiered his rollicking “Seven Keys to Baldpate”.
Then, in 2012, almost 100 years later, Nicky Silver’s kick-ass acerbic comedy “The Lyons” was running on Broadway while 2nd Story was hatching the idea of the new DownStage.
Two different plays. Two different venues. Two different eras. One century of laughter.
Pretty cool, eh?
Best,
Ed
