Season 2015-16

Educating Rita

Artwork by Candis Dixon

by Willy Russell

Frank is an English professor whose dissolute and isolated life drives him to drink while barricading himself behind his work. Enter Rita, a young hairdresser hungry to learn. As their relationship grows, roles of teacher and student reverse, with Frank acquiring a renewed sense of self while Rita attains the identity she craves. A social documentary/fairy tale with a hopeful, (half) happy ending.
