Ed Shea, Artistic Director at 2nd Story Theatre

Sometimes all the elements come together creating the perfect photo call:

The costumes, the cast, the play and, of course, the photographer.

The combined talents of designer Ron Cesario, female impersonator Payton St. James (aka Michael McAdam) and photographer Rich Dionne have created a treasure trove of theatrical shots.

Check them out below.

And yes, the play is as fun as it looks.

I Hate Hamlet, by Paul Rudnik

UpStage in Rep / Now thru August 30With his career in limbo, a young television star is offered the chance to play hamlet in the Park. Relocating to New york, he rents a mysterious, gothic apartment once inhabited by the great John Barrymore. Sounds ideal, no? Well, there’s a little problem: he loathes the Bard. Enter the ghost of Barrymore, conjured by an impromptu seance, who introduces our ambivalent young friend to the joys of fame, dames and melancholy Danes.

Venus in Fur, by David Ives

DownStage / Closing Weekend!A beleaguered director, desperate to cast his stage adaptation of a classic sadomasochistic tale, Venus in Fur, reluctantly auditions an equally desperate actress. As the casting session simmers, lines blur between play and reality as the two enter a dangerous game of submission and domination that only one can win. A clever, erotic, darkly comic pas de deux.
