Thoughts & Musings

Let the Countdown Begin!

Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be sending out email blasts in rapid succession.  My plan is to announce the season one play at a time.  Our festive brochure will hit the mail around Labor Day, but the season doesn’t officially begin until early October – plenty of time to get your orders in.

A couple of details up front:

1.) We will do a total of 8 plays this season, 4 UpStage & 4 DownStage.  Subscribers will be given a choice of an 8-pack for $200 or a 6-pack for $150.

2.) That’s a 15% savings over individual ticket prices.  Subscribing also gives you the additional perk of preferred, reserved seating.

3.) If you go with the 6-pack, you will be asked to choose up front which of the plays you’ll attend.  As in seasons past, you will not be required to choose the dates up front, although you are welcome to.

I gave a lot of thought to the season’s composition.  So many factors come into play.  But I am excited about all of them.  Every. Last. One.

In choosing a season, my goal is to sell out without selling out, if you catch my drift.  So, while they all have great popular appeal, they are still sophisticated, smart and savvy.  Just like our audience.

They are plays that will entertain, enlighten and enliven.

For those of you choosing 6 out of 8, I wish you luck.  I guarantee the choice will be difficult.

Expect the first tomorrow.

Drum roll please…….

Best,
Ed

Now Playing!

And Then There Were None

UpStage in Rep / Now thru August 31
A mysterious host brings an unlikely group of guests to a remote island where, one by one, they start to die. Who’s the killer? Who’s the next victim? Following the success of last summer’s Mousetrap, we thought we’d invite you to enjoy another murderously entertaining whodunit.

Hay Fever

UpStage in Rep / Now thru August 29
This classic comedy introduces us to the uber- bohemian Bliss family: the father, a famous writer; the mother, a renowned actress, and two equally eccentric children. Each invites a friend to their summer home where the hosts foist each guest off on a different family member, with alarmingly delightful results.

Simply Phenomenal:
A Tribute to Maya Angelou

DownStage / August 20 Only!Join 2nd Story Theatre in welcoming the talented artists of Pawtucket’s Mixed Magic Theatre to Warren for a one-night only special event:  Simply Phenomenal: A Tribute to Maya Angelou.  A show about the poetry, inspirations, music and images that celebrate the life of an American icon. Performed by Mixed Magic Theatre Company with Guest Artists.

Sylvia

DownStage / Returning Sept. 4 thru 14It’s back!  A modern romantic comedy about a marriage and a dog. Dramatic literature is stuffed with memorable love scenes, but none is as immediately delicious, dizzy and howlingly funny as the one that begins the redeeming affair in this clever and endearing comedy. In fact, you might just want to take it home with you.
